What is dermaplaning?

  • Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a medical grade scalpel gently removing top epidermis layers of dulling dead skin cells, vellus hairs, and impurities.
  • Results can reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.
  • Uses a scalpel that is held with a specific angle using short strokes gliding along the skin using facial mapping to guide your treatment directions for best results.
  • Involves scraping dead skin cells and in addition shaving vellus facial hair better known as “peach fuzz” leaving the surface with ultimate smoothness.
  • Dermaplaning exfoliation can typically be a deeper than Microdermabrasion treatments which generally stops at the stratum corneum or horny layer of the outer skin.
  • Dermaplaning is known to aids in greater penetration of skincare products, brighten the appearance of the skin, and creates a smooth canvas for makeup applications.
  • Dermaplaning can be used to help prepare skin for more intrusive procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels as examples.
  • Dermaplaning is a procedure much different than other hair removal techniques such as waxing or threading which is epilation from the root removing facial or body hair.
